Reason #1 - Doing specific types of
exercise after a c section actually increases the blood flow to the area, meaning extra
proteins are delivered in the blood, helping to speed up the healing process and dramatically
improve the speed of your c section recovery.
Reason #2 - After having major
surgery, such as a c section, the risk of blood clots forming is a very real danger.
Inactivity can increase the chances of this happening, but being active reduces the
likelihood. Why do you think hospital staff encourage you get up and about within hours of
having surgery?
Reason #3 - Even though you
haven't given birth vaginally, your stomach muscles have still been forced apart. So you
absolutely do need to practice doing some simple stomach tightening exercises
regularly.
Reason #4 - Get out and
about as soon as possible. Start off easily, but as soon as you can, begin walking around the
block. As well as helping to tone the muscles of your legs and tummy, your brain will produce
seratonin, a feel good hormone which will massively improve the state of your mind and
spirit.
Reason #5 - One of the best
ways to increase energy levels after having a baby and beating the usual baby blues that new
moms feel is by staying as active as possible. You'll rapidly speed up your c section
recovery and give yourself a natural boost of energy and enthusiasm.
